Cancer Warrior, Charlie Peter

About Fourth & Gold

Founded by Erin, Fourth & Gold officially became a 5013C non-profit organization in July 2022. Much of the team is lead by healthcare professionals that are on the frontlines of oncological practice, helping children and their families battle cancer everyday.

Each week, Fourth and Gold will highlight a cancer warrior who has bravely and fiercely stood strong against cancer. At Fourth and Gold, we want you to see the faces behind our drive and connect with them in a way that you wouldn’t have been able to if you didn’t take the stand to demand #MoreThan4! Our precious kids have cancer, but cancer is not who they are.

Week of March 10, 2018

Warrior girl, Charlie Peter, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at 18 months in July 2017.

Current Age: 2 (Birthday 1/15/16)

Favorite things to do: Play in her toy kitchen, jump on her trampoline and anything that has to do with her little brother, Cooper.

Loves: Her Mommy and Daddy! Baby brother Cooper, all of her extended family. Any and all kids, appointments to see her clinic family, hugs and smiling

Favorite Foods: Chips, goldfish and any kind of snack! (Hello! What girl doesn’t?!)

If you know Charlie, you know she is: Feisty, funny and extremely loving.

What you can’t see is that Charlie has undergone:

  • 8 months and counting of weekly chemotherapy
  • Countless blood and platelet transfusions
  • Anesthesia multiple times for lumbar punctures and 2 port placements
  • Losing her hair twice

While we want you to see Charlie on a good day, please know the reality is there are many HARD days. Hard days of getting her port accessed, hard days of going to clinics 3x a week, hard days of tears, IV’s, chemotherapy, being away from family, side effects and hard days of EMOTIONAL pain on Charlie and her family.

On days where Charlie should be able to go run outside with her little friends, Charlie may not have an immune system because the chemotherapy wiped it out, so she’s forced to stay inside with a mask. On days where Charlie might have an event to attend, her chemotherapy is scheduled and can’t be changed, so she misses out. At 1am when everyone is sleeping, Charlie spikes a fever and has to go to the ER for blood cultures and an automatic at least 24 hour stay inpatient.

Cancer knows no gender, no race and no economic state. Please help us find a cure for little girls like Charlie. It is never your child, until it is.

How it Works

If you’re interested in hosting a stand or sponsoring our campaign, reach out to us using this contact form, and a team member will contact you directly.

***This is not our sign up form to receive a kit and host a stand!***

If you’re looking to host your own Lucy’s Lemonade Stand, filling out the form does not sign you up! Once we receive your form submission, we’ll communicate with you directly and send you a link to sign up for your stand.

1.) If you are looking to host a stand during our September campaign, stand sign ups will run June 1 through June 30th every year. We’ll ask for the date(s) you plan to host your stand in September, as well as your location, so we can help promote it and drive traffic your way. In August, we’ll send out stand kits. If you’re local to Jacksonville, we’ll host a meetup where you can pick up your kit in person.

2.) If you are looking to host a stand during our September campaign but missed our sign-up windowno worries! We order extra kits every year, so reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate you as supplies last.

3.) If you are looking to host a stand outside of our September campaign, that is a possibility as well, depending on the amount of extra supplies remaining. Please reach out to us anytime and we will do our best to provide you with everything you need to host a stand any time of year!

Each host receives a kit designed to make your experience easy and impactful, along with a PDF guide containing everything needed to host a successful – and fun – lemonade stand. Your kit will be packed with lemonade mix, cups, straws, signage, and more. Our goal is to equip you with everything you need to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer research. All you need to do is set up, mix the lemonade, and help spread the word.
