The Need for Change
Currently, the National Institutes of Health allocates only 4% of its research funding to childhood cancers. With such limited resources, progress has been painfully slow—only three new treatments have been developed for children since 1980. As a result, many young patients are left with harsh clinical trial options that often cause life-altering short- and long-term side effects. Even when treatment is successful in eliminating cancer, the consequences of these toxic therapies can be devastating.

Children and their families deserve more humane, effective cures. At Fourth and Gold, we believe the most powerful way forward is to identify and fund the most promising research—advancing treatments that give kids a real chance at not only surviving, but thriving. While the road to a cure may be long, every meaningful step brings immediate and life-changing impact for children and families who are desperate for hope.

Who We Are
Fourth and Gold became a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in July 2020 with the mission of accelerating childhood cancer research. Our team includes healthcare professionals working on the frontlines of pediatric oncology, standing alongside children and families every single day in their fight against cancer.
