Since August 2020, Fourth and Gold has invested $526,000 into pediatric cancer research—and we’re just getting started. Our mission is clear: to keep funding groundbreaking, less toxic treatments until the day we can celebrate a true, humane cure for childhood cancer.

That’s why we’re bringing this back a little earlier this year. Awareness and getting involved doesn’t just happen during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We need awareness all year long. 365 days. Every single day.

The childhood cancer community has faced unbearable loss, day after day, year after year. Consider it an absolute privilege if this disease has never touched your life. Truly. Because far too many families live this reality every single minute of every single day.

Today, we’re challenging you to complete 43 miles by the end of March. You can walk it, jog it, run it. However you choose, just show up.

Yes, we’re starting a little late, but it’s still doable. Awareness matters, showing up for families matters, standing with kids fighting the unimaginable matters.

This isn’t just a September issue.

Print the sheet, save it to your phone, track your miles however you want, but tag us in your posts and we’ll share them to our stories. At the end of the month, we’ll randomly select a participant to receive exclusive Fourth and Gold merch.

There’s a big difference between talking about cha

There’s a big difference between talking about changing the world… and actually doing something about it.

At Fourth and Gold, we decided a long time ago that we weren’t going to just post about childhood cancer when it felt heavy or when we had successes. We weren’t going to just share statistics and shake our heads. We were going to commit to action, and in less than five years, this community has helped us give $526,000 toward childhood cancer research and support.

Half a million dollars.

Not from massive galas.
Not from corporate giants writing seven-figure checks, but from kickball tournaments, dodgeball games, shirt sales, raffles, small businesses, families, friends... People who decided to show up.

Our “small” events are the very things funding real projects.

And here’s what matters most: the treatment we helped fund? It’s not just an idea on paper. It’s not sitting in a lab collecting dust. It is being used in hospitals today. Kids are receiving it. Families are clinging to it. That is impact.

But here’s the part that doesn’t get easier...

Watching a child get diagnosed is devastating. It stops you in your tracks and it changes the air in the room.

Now watching a relapse?
It’s heavier. It hits deeper. It feels personal in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve stared at that text message, that update, that phone call.

Why? Because these aren’t statistics to us.
They aren’t numbers on a spreadsheet.
They aren’t just social media pages we follow.

There are moments we sit with the numbers, the survival rates, research dollars, the timelines and it hits us just how far away a cure for childhood cancer can feel.

And then there are the stories. The faces. The warriors who should be worrying about recess and bedtime stories, not ports, chemo, and scan results. Keeping up with their journeys is both a privilege and a heartbreak, because once you know their names… you carry them.

We won’t lie to you, nights we feel the urgency so deeply it aches, because we don’t just want a cure someday, we want it now. We want it before another family hears words that shatter their world. We want it before another child has to be brave in ways no child should ever have to be.

But here’s the truth that keeps us going:
We are making a difference.

Every dollar raised. Every event attended. Every share, every conversation, every shirt worn, every prayer whispered, it all adds up. The numbers are changing. Research is advancing. Awareness is growing. Progress may feel slow when you’re fighting something this big… but it is real.

Fourth and Gold exists because we refuse to accept “someday” as good enough. We exist because these kids deserve urgency. They deserve louder voices. They deserve fighters in their corner who won’t stop until childhood cancer is no longer a battle anyone has to face.

The teams showed UP, the matching shirts and the creative names are everything and the kind of energy that makes days like this unforgettable.

These photos capture just a small piece of what the day felt like. The laughter in the dugouts, teammates cheering each other on, captains who pulled their teams together and everyone playing with heart for something bigger than just a game.

These tournaments are fun, they’re slightly competitive, it’s a great day with friends, but it’s also helping us continue to fund research for more humane childhood cancer treatments. That part never gets lost on me.

To every team that signed up, every player who stepped on the field, every umpire and every volunteer and everyone who came out to support… thank you. You made this tournament what it was.

And congratulations to our two-time repeat champs: Drinkers with a Kicking Problem 🍻
